The 100 Black Men Of Greater Fort Lauderdale and Delta Sigma Theta participates in Lauderdale Lakes American Cancer Society Relay For Life®

LAUDERDALE LAKES – The 100 Black Men of Greater Fort Lauderdale and Delta Sigma Theta are teaming up with the Second Annual Future Legends Sports Camp to spotlight cancer awareness and raise money for research during The American Cancer Society Relay For Life ®.

The two-day event will start Friday, April 24, as members of the 100 Black Men, Delta Sigma Theta, and others converge at Vincent Torres Park at 4331 N.W. 36 Street in Lauderdale Lakes to honor those who have battled cancer during a survivors’ dinner.

At 6 p.m., following dinner, all participating organizations will kick-off the Lauderdale Lakes Relay For Life.

As participants take to the field, they will celebrate cancer survivors and pay tribute to those whose lives have been lost while continuing to raise money to fight the disease. The laps around the field will continue Friday evening into Saturday morning, when at 9 a.m. on April 25, registration begins for the Second Annual Future Legends Sports Camp.

The camp honors the legendary Coach Otis Gray Jr., who died in 2007 as a result of colon cancer. The camp is for boys and girls ages 5 to 15 and will feature a football and cheerleading component.

The event, which is put on in part by the late Coach Gray’s son, Quinn Gray of the Kansas City Chiefs, will consist of former NFL players as well as local high school and youth league coaches. The sessions will run until 5p.m. The camp will cover the fundamentals of football as well as feature some of the area’s best cheerleading teams including the 2008 state runner-up winners, the Stranahan Dragons.

The $5 camp registration fee will be donated to the American Cancer Society. The festivities during both days are sure to be entertaining and fun for whole family. Come out and join the excitement.
