Test match cricket returns to Antigua Recreation Ground
ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – England reached 58 without loss at lunch on the first day of the 3rd Digicel Test match against West Indies at the Antigua Recreation Ground. Play started 45 minutes late due to wet patches on the outfield due to rain on Saturday and again Sunday morning.
The match signalled a return to Test match cricket at the lively ARG. This is the 22nd Test match at the venue, in the heart of St John’s. The ground staged 21 Tests between 1981 and 2006.
The West Indies lead the five-match series 1-0 following their victory by an innings and 23 runs in the 1st Digicel Test at Sabina Park, Jamaica. The 2nd Digicel Test at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium was abandoned after 10 balls on Friday.
