TATI, Inc. 2013 Teen Driver Safety Awareness Campaign

Lauderhill – The City of Lauderhill’s Commissioners Howard Berger and Hayworth Benson have endorsed the First Annual TATI 5K Walk for Teen Driver Safety being hosted by Transforming America Through Interaction (TATI), Inc. this month.

This event, which is scheduled for Sunday, October 20, 2013, will kick off National Teen Driver Safety Week (October 20-26), and is being supported by the Florida Highway Patrol, Broward Sheriff Office Fire Rescue, Lauderhill Police Department, and the Lauderhill Fire Rescue. This year’s theme is Family, Fun and Fitness.

TATI, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that was created after the passing of president and founder Tanya Ragbeer’s first born daughter, 19-year-old Tatiana McIntosh, a University of Florida sophomore who died tragically in an auto accident 6 years ago. “The remarkable thing about the timing of this, our first Walkathon is not only that it falls on Teen Driver Safety Week, but also that it precedes Tatiana’s birthday on October 22nd,” says Ragbeer. “So in addition to continuing to honor her memory for her birthday, we are also putting in place a conscious event that brings awareness to a cause that will resonate with many, many parents. Being able to bring attention to the hazards of distracted driving is our goal and it has the potential to not only impact many residents of the community, but to save lives.”

The TATI 5K Walk for Teen Driver Safety will take place in the Lauderhill Sports Park at 7500 W. Oakland Park Boulevard in Lauderhill, Florida and will kick off at 8:00am, culminating at 12:00pm. There will be music, arts and crafts and other booths available to keep visitors entertained. A fee of $25 in paid pledges is all that is required to enter and participating students will be able to qualify for Community Service Hours.
