Stephen Marley’s New Solo Reggae Album – Reveleation Part 1: The Root Of Life Hitting Streets May 24
NEW YORK — Stephen Marley announces the forthcoming release of a new solo studio album entitled, Revelation Part 1: The Root of Life which is due to hit streets on Universal Records / Ghetto Youths International, Inc. on May 24, 2011.
Later this year, the five-time Grammy Award winning producer, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and second son of legendary reggae artist, Bob Marley plans to release a follow-up to the Root of Life entitled, Revelation Part 2: The Fruit of Life, which will lean towards more of what Marley describes as an “eclectic feel”.
While Stephen Marley has built a formidable reputation handily navigating between genres, Revelation Part 1: The Root of Life marks a return to Marley’s roots reggae foundation.
‘Jah Army’, the first single off of Revelation Part 1: The Root of Life is a timeless, dub- tinged Rastafarian anthem that the reggae star collaborated with his brother, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley. Written and produced by Stephen Marley, the Marley brothers recorded ‘Jah Army’ at Tuff Gong studios in Kingston, Jamaica and the Lion’s Den in Miami, Florida. Lyrically exclaiming, “We are soldiers in Jah Army”, Stephen Marley’s new single had set off a fire-storm of media frenzy when a few versions of the single, including a version with vocals by the Marley brothers alongside Buju Banton and a remix version which is complete with a selection from a classic Biggie Smalls freestyle, surfaced online in December of 2010.
Giving fans a taste of what to expect from his new album Revelation Part 1: The Root of Life, Stephen Marley recently released a follow-up track to ‘Jah Army’ entitled, ‘No Cigarette Smoking’. The sultry cut features the smoky vocals of Guyanese-Canadian singer Melanie Fiona and has made its debut at #1 on the Reggae iTunes charts.
This summer, Stephen Marley will embark on the Revelation Part 1: The Root of Life tour. Fans can anticipate Stephen Marley to announce additional tour dates and special guests which will be joining him on stage throughout 2011.
