MIAMI – Yesterday, under the leadership of President Barack Obama, the House of Representatives passed a sweeping overhaul of our healthcare system. The Healthcare Overhaul Legislation will extend healthcare coverage to 32 million Americans who currently do not have healthcare coverage.
As a physician for more than 30 years, I know that this is not a partisan victory but rather a major win for so many who lack access to affordable quality healthcare. When fully phased in, 95 percent of eligible Americans will have coverage compared with 83 percent today.

This bill will also bring relief to so many seniors and working families across our community and country. I salute our President and our Congress for putting American families first and look forward to the upcoming crucial vote by the Senate.
