Statement by an IMF Mission to Jamaica

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Mr. Gene Leon, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) resident representative for Jamaica, issued the following statement today in Kingston:

“A Fund mission, headed by Trevor Alleyne, is visiting Jamaica during February 14-18, 2011. The team is expected to review macroeconomic data for end-2010 and discuss with the government recent economic developments, the economic policy initiatives planned for this year, and the parameters for the FY 2011/12 budget. As the preparations for the FY2011/12 economic program are still ongoing, and because the IMF Executive Board only just completed the third review of the Standby Arrangement (SBA) in mid-January, there will be a subsequent mission, most likely in late March, to formally conduct the fourth review of the SBA.”
