St. Lucia raises profile within travel agent community

NEW YORK – Travel agents in the United States are cheering new destination developments on St. Lucia as the island’s Tourist Board’s four-week road show rolls through the Northeast, mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Midwest sections of the country.

Lorine Charles-St. Jules, the St. Lucia Tourist Board’s Director of Marketing for North America, reported lots of excitement from travel agents about the value and quality of accommodations and attractions available on the island, in addition to the varied airlines to choose from. “They are responding really well to our summer and fall promotion, which offers savings to consumers as well as incentives to agents to book St. Lucia,” she disclosed.

St. Lucia’s Director of Tourism, Maria Fowell, says the road show and promotion are part of the nation’s efforts to build stronger relationships with an important segment of the travel industry. “We honor our travel partners and we encourage them to continue to take full advantage of this “Super Summer Savers” package through November,” she explained, adding, “Our enthusiasm about this promotion has been fueled by the widespread support we have received from St. Lucia’s business community and all our travel partners.”

In addition to visitors being eligible to receive discounts of up to 40 percent off at participating hotels and up to 25 percent off tours, attractions, restaurants, golfing, spa and car rentals, travel agents are earning attractive prizes, from gas cards to television sets to Tiffany jewelry, drawn monthly for top agents until the winter. In December, the Top 20 agents will be flown to St. Lucia for an all-expense paid luxury vacation with their spouse, hosted by Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Senator Allen Chastanet.

”St. Lucia is raising the bar for you and your clients,” Charles-St. Jules told a packed house at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, New York last week.
