St. Kitts Music Festival 2010 Dates Immediately Follow World Class Cricket Match

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Senator Ricky Skerritt, Minister of Tourism, Sports & Culture for St. Kitts, has announced that the island’s 14th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival will be held from June 24-26, 2010 at Warner Park Stadium. These dates immediately follow the second Test Match between the West Indies and South Africa, which will be also be hosted at Warner Park, from June 18-22, 2010.

“For those who enjoy both music and the sport of cricket, St. Kitts will be a vacation hot spot this coming summer,” said Minister Skerritt. “Over the course of just 9 days, the island will be host to two major international events, a multitude of famous musical artists and some of the world’s top athletes, which will positively impact visitor arrivals and raise the profile of St. Kitts’ tourism product on a global scale.”

The second Test Match is part of the South Africa team’s tour of the West Indies beginning on May 19 with a Twenty20 International Match and concluding on June 30 with the third Test Match. This key event follows the prestigious ICC World Twenty20 series in the West Indies, for which St. Kitts is hosting all twelve women’s matches from May 5 to 10.

Now in its 14th consecutive year, the St. Kitts Music Festival has become a well-established Caribbean and International event attracting international visitors as well as locals with a mix of musical styles on the popular market, including R&B, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Soca, Calypso, Gospel and Contemporary music while reflecting a uniquely Caribbean flavor. Past artists have included such prominent acts as John Legend, Billy Ocean, T-Pain, Michael Bolton, Wyclef Jean, Ne-Yo, Mario, Air Supply, Stephen Marley, Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers, Boyz II Men, Regina Belle, Brian McKnight, Ashanti, Shaggy, Eve, KC & The Sunshine Band, DMX, Hugh Masekala, Xtatik, the Temptations, Chaka Khan, Maxi Priest, Ronald “Boo” Hinkson and Busta Rhymes.
