COCONUT CREEK – An international aide agency in Florida is asking residents to drop off non-perishable food for the survivors of several storms that have raked the Caribbean.
Food For The Poor, a faith-based nonprofit in Coconut Creek says it has already sent more than 30 shipping containers of food and emergency relief supplies to storm victims in the Caribbean but the needs are tremendous.
“Four storms in the Caribbean, one right after the other, have left hundreds dead, thousands homeless, and tens of thousands with nothing, said Food For The Poor Executive Director Angel Aloma. “As Floridians, we know all too well that what a hurricane can take away in just a few hours might take months or years to replace.”
From September 9th through the 12th, Food For The Poor is asking area residents to bring non-perishable food to its offices at 6401 Lyons Road in Coconut Creek. The donation site will be open each of those days from 9:00 o’clock in the morning until 4:00 o’clock in the afternoon.
Food For The Poor says what is needed most is canned meat, canned fish, and dry beans.
