South Florida: Concert series showcase Jamaican talent to support community outreach

NORTH MIAMI – The Episcopal Church of the Holy Family will presents its second annual Concert series “Encore and More” with two scheduled events next weekend (Saturday and Sunday – Sept. 11 and 12) at the Church located in North Miami.

Under the distinguished patronage of the Jamaican Consul General, Sandra Grant Griffiths, the event will again showcase a high caliber of Jamaican talent including opera singer, Rory Baugh and soprano, Carole Reid who has been described as versatile in her style of performance.

According to producer and director of the show, Jamaican author and folklorist, the Reverend Easton Lee, the duo gave an outstanding performance at last year’s show, hence an encore rendition this year. They will be joined by two more outstanding performers, cabaret singers, Harold Davis and Karen Smith, aptly titling the concert series “Encore and More.”

These celebrated artists are known for their work in the music ministries of their respective churches as well as other community outreach programmes in Jamaica, and have all individually built successful musical careers locally and internationally.

The Rev. Easton Lee has assured that the audience will again be treated to an excellent programme of music ranging from the classics, spirituals, jazz contemporary and folk, as well as familiar sacred offerings, following the overwhelming response following last year’s performances.

Proceeds from the event will benefit several projects in Jamaica and Florida including the Church’s Outreach Ministry and Building Fund and similar projects in Jamaica undertaken by volunteers from the Holy Family congregation.

Tickets to the Show are adults ($25) and children 12 and under ($15). For information call 305-652-6797.
