South Florida Caribbean-American Designer Launches the Sizzling New Evo Collection

FT. LAUDERDALE – South Florida fashion designer, Asanyah Davidson, will launch the Circa24 Evo Collection at a fashion show/cocktail mixer on May 20th in Hollywood, Florida.

The collection, the latest from her Circa24 line of clothing, is inspired by the Pam Grier movies of the 70’s Blaxploitation era.

Evo is bold, flirty, sophisticated and colorful, reflective of that era when blacks ruled the cinemas and stood tall in their own skin. The woman who wears Evo is equally fierce and will enjoy clothing that accentuates her curves, while making her feel sleek, sexy and sassy.

“I wanted to pay homage to the strengths women like Grier epitomized in those films,’’ said Davidson of her collection. “I think today’s woman is just as independent, strong-willed and ready to take charge of her life and destiny, and I wanted to design clothing that was reflective of that.”

The collection has swimwear, but focuses on essential summer looks that can be worn year round in Florida and other hot climates and includes tops, pants, jumpers, pencil skirts, and versatile dresses that can go from day to evening with minimal accessorizing.

Davidson, a Jamaican native, launched Circa24 in 2009 and is buoyed by its consistent growth.

The name Circa comes from her belief that all things in life come full circle and ‘24’ refers to the year her Grandmother – who inspired her love of fashion – was born.

Davidson’s passion for design took root when she attended Miami’s Design and Architecture Senior High (DASH) in the Miami Design District. After graduation, she headed to the fashion Mecca of New York City to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) where she received an A.A.S degree in Fashion Design and then spent a year abroad in Florence, Italy. She then returned to New York to finish her B.A. in International Trade and Marketing. She completed her M.A. in Design Studies at Central St. Martins in
London, England.

Davidson returned to the states and accepted a position with Macy’s Florida Division as an Assistant Buyer. In addition to spearheading the designs for Circa24 and running the day-to-day operations of her boutique firm, she also teaches fashion at Miami International University of Art & Design and Broward Community College.

The cocktail mixer will be held at Tempo Lounge, 2029 Harrison Street, Bay 6, Downtown Hollywood, from 6:30 to 8:00pm. To attend, please RSVP to [email protected] and for additional information call: (954) 736 8414.
