MIRAMAR – Versatile Jamaican songbird, Karen Smith will lead a talented team of artists scheduled to entertain and delight at an elegant and enjoyable Valentine’s variety show entitled Love is a Funny Little Thing, scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 8:30 p.m., at the new Miramar Performing Arts Center, 2400 Civic Center Place, in Miramar.
Love is a Funny Little Thing is an evening of comedy, passionate poems and love songs designed to entertain as we celebrate the joys of love on Valentine’s Day.
The show will feature comedians Chris “Johnny” Daley and Rohan Gunther giving a humorous take on romance, passionate poems by Joan Andrea Hutchinson and love songs performed by Karen Smith, Steve Higgins, Audley Rollen and Junior Soul.
VIP ticket holders will enjoy a romantic pre-show reception where they will be treated to an array of delectable hors d’oeuvres, wine champagne and other goodies as well as an opportunity to mix and mingle with the performers.
Easily described as one of Jamaica’s most versatile entertainer, Karen Smith is a master of many genres – R& B, Reggae, Pop and Jazz. Smith will take her audience on a smooth musical journey as they enjoy the clarity and sincerity of her pure vocal styling combined with her warmth and charm on stage.
Accomplished tenor, Steve Higgins will be capable support, offering a wide array of romantic solo ballads as well as duets with Smith.
Florida-based performers Audley Rollen and Junior Soul are also expected to thrill the audience with stellar performances.
Chris “Johnny” Daley, a seasoned entertainer well known in film, television, radio, theatre and comedy circles, will add a dose of humor as he and Rohan Gunther will offer a funny look at romance and relationships. Winner of the 2006 Comedy Buss, Gunther’s career has propelled rapidly, positioning him as one of the top comics in Jamaica. Both comedians are sure to amuse the audience with their side-splitting presentations on love.
Joan Andrea Hutchinson, the consummate communicator, who uses wit and humor as a vehicle to help people understand Jamaican culture, will read from her book of romantic poetry entitled “Inna Mi Heart”. Joan Andrea will mesmerize the audience with her passionate poetry and love stories.

Ticket prices range from $35 to $60 for VIP, which includes a pre-show reception.
