Soca super band added to NYC Irie Jamboree reggae festival
NEW YORK, NY St. Kitts-Nevis and the Eastern Caribbean’s leading soca band the Nu-Vybes Band International(SUGAR BAND) has been added to the line-up of the prestigious Irie Jamboree Reggae Festival in Queen’s, New York on September 3, 2006, on the eve of the annual world famous Brooklyn West Indian Carnival Labor Day Parade.
According to President and CEO of VIP Connected Entertainment Incorporated, Mrs. Julie “Lexy” Brooks, the Reggae Soca Music Awards “Best Soca Band” will perform at the fourth annual festival, considered by most in the Caribbean music industry as the mecca of North American Caribbean music concerts.
Irie Jamboree this year promises to attract the largest crowd in its 4 year history with an expected estimated attendance of over 30,000 Caribbean music fans.
“This year’s Irie jamboree will pay tribute to Jamaica’s national Hero and Reggae Super Star, the Hon. Robert Nesta “Bob” Marley and the star-studded line-up includes Beres Hammond, Capleton, Buju Banton, Beenie Man, Coca Tea, Assassin, Baby Cham, Gregory Isaacs, and Nu Vybes,” said Brooks, who disclosed that “NuVybes most likely will kick off the big show at the Roy Wilkins Park, in Queen’s, New York.”
The band was added despite the fact that the show’s theme is 100% reggae which is a huge feather in the cap of the band which has enjoyed an already exceptionally successful year that included the ReggaeSoca Music “Best Soca Band “award, the International Soca Awards “Overal Best Soca Band” nomination , their 5th road march title at the most recent St.Kitts Carnival as well as being the 1st annual VIP Connected Caribbean Bandoarama Champions.
Nu-Vybes will be the only soca band to perform at the massive event.
Past headliners at Irie Jamboree include Grammy Award winner, Sean Paul, Shabba Ranks, Damien “Jr. Gong” Marley and hip-hop artistes Big Daddy Kane and Dougie Fresh.
