Soca fever storms Tobago!!!

Port-Of-Spain, Trinidad – As anticipation for Carnival 2010 grows in Trinidad, the country’s #1 Soca supporter Bmobile made it a priority to ensure that the sister Isle of the Tobago was not denied of any C2K10 Carnival frenzy.

The residents of the beautiful and cultured island of Tobago recently got a dosage of 100% Soca support pumped through their veins courtesy of Bmobile. The dominant mobile telecommunications provider executed two key events in the island’s Carnival calendar and added to its already flourishing arts and entertainment landscape.

The Bmobile Soca Spree was one such initiative in Tobago. The Bmobile produced event featured top Trinidad artistes including the current International and Groovy Soca Monarch Fay Ann Lyons-Alverez, her husband, the Fireman Bunji Garlin and radio personalities turned Soca sensations JW and Blaze. Hometown Hero Shurwayne Winchester and his band also caused quite an energetic stir with his new band Y.O.U.
Shawn “Da Mastamind” Noel (a member of Shurwayne’s band) stated that the Bmobile Soca Spree was a really nice experience and that it is always great to perform in Tobago. He added, “I always see Bmobile involved in the progression of culture”.

Bmobile then undertook the Tobago Soca Monarch, which saw defending champion Fire Empress (Lornette Reid) retain her title and fend off challengers the likes of ultra-talented Princess Adana, Dave Sampson, Lion and Duchess. Much to the delight of the audience, the show featured guest spots by Patch and Bmobile Blackberry International Soca Monarch finalists Blaxx, Iwer George and Ainsley King.

In addition to all the financial and production assistance Bmobile has given to several Trinidad Carnival fetes, concerts and organizations such as Trinity College’s “Soka in Moka”, QRC’s all-inclusive “Outta de Blue”, Bacchanal Friday (Bazodee Friday) and the Carnival band Island People Mas, it remains committed to aiding and enhancing Tobago’s sport and cultural arena.

The Bmobile team takes much pleasure in having been involved with both the Tobago Soca Monarch and Soca Spree and plans to lend support to the upcoming Tobago Carnival Regatta which takes place from Feb 19-21 2010.
