Singer and Song Writer Tarrus Riley to appear “live” on Hype Radio 1170 Am-July 24

DAVIE – HYPE ZONE, the hot new Friday night show on WAVS 1170 AM, announces the visit of popular cool ‘new reggae’ sensation, Tarrus Riley, on the show this Friday, July 24. The tight program hosted by DJ Garrity runs from 12 midnight -1 a.m.

Jimmy Riley fans will be pleased to note that Tarrus, who was born Omar Riley, is the son of their beloved Martin “Jimmy” Riley of “The Sensations” fame and mother Lavern.

Rising in the music industry like the proverbial phoenix, Tarrus followed his 2006 “Parables,” with what is now known as the women’s anthem “She’s Royal.” This hard-working and progressively successful artiste has virtually wrapped up his third album dubbed “Contagious,” which is slated for an August release on the Cannon label, with VP Records handling it’s distribution. Fans can take in the full
package this year when Tarrus makes his fifth appearance on International Night at Jamaica’s musical extravaganza, “Sumfest.”

Those unable to make it to the island will not be left wanting as his itinerary includes a five-week tour of the US, along with the likes of Dean Frazer and other notable performers and then it’s off to Europe.

In this exclusive chat, Tarrus will speak of his roots in reggae music, Jamaica’s broadcasting
commision’s role in cleaning up the music and the possibilities of collaborating with Britain’s
Any Winehouse. To learn more about the life and times of the man, in his own words, be sure to
tune in to “The HYPE ZONE.” this Friday, July 24, 12 midnight on WAVS 1170AM. Streaming and podcasting are available at www.wavs1170.com
