”Reggae * Jerk * Jam” 2006 comes to Tampa area

ODESSA – In showcasing some of the culture of Jamaica, the first annual ”Reggae * Jerk * Jam” Festival will be held on Saturday October 21, 2006 at the Bayanihan Arts & Events Center located at 14301 Nine Eagles Dr. in Tampa
Florida.

”Reggae * Jerk * Jam” is an authentic Jamaican food and music experience which will Educate and Entertain, while supporting two charitable causes.

The food emphasis will be on the world recognized phenomenon of “Jamaican Jerk Cuisine”.

Several vendors will be serving their own jerk specialties, along with a limited time period of Jerk sampling. There will be a presentation on Jerk, along with a display.

Patrons will also be able to enjoy other forms of original Jamaican food dishes and items, natural Jamaican juices, Jamaican sodas, Jamaican beers and more, which will be on sale.

There will be several live musical performances from traditional reggae to Latin reggae, Steel Pan reggae, as well as a popular DJ playing reggae music.

Amongst all the reggae music, there will be a little soca music for everyone’s jumping pleasure.

The music will be provided by a combination of entertainers such as Steel Pan with Mello Vibes, along with Sensation Band, both from the Tampa Bay area. From the South Florida region, live performance with Fourth Dimension and Mark Swaby of the Illusions Disco spinning the best in Caribbean music.

Additionally, there will be Arts & Craft items on sale and video presentations showcasing images of Jamaica and some of what the island has to offer.

A Kidz Zone will be available for the young at heart. Dominoes and other games will be available for patrons to participate in. Patrons will have the opportunity to win prizes and there will be a raffle of a vacation trip to Jamaica.

Proceeds will be donated in part to Jamaican Children’s Heart Fund pediatric open heart surgery mission and the scholarship fund of the YMCA of North Pinellas.

There is a $5 admission charge for everyone 5 years and older, with a $3 venue parking charge per vehicle.

The event is sponsored by Red Stripe Beer, Guinness Extra Stout, WMGO 88.5 FM-Mango radio, K. Joseph & Associates Real Estate and Air Jamaica with support provided by the Jamaica Tourist Board, Suncoast News, Sweetbay Supermarket, WMNF and Best Bay Vibes.

”Reggae * Jerk * Jam” is a complete family event that will give “An Authentic Jamaican Experience, which touches all the senses, and uplifts the Heart”.

This event is produced by Making Waves LLC., and Trilogy Productions Ltd., known for producing events of the highest quality for people satisfaction.
