Reggae Icons to perform with Orchestra at Broward Center

FT. LAUDERDALE – It is being promoted as an evening of “Classical Reggae”, a fusion of two genres, an uncommon combination of reggae accompanied by the smooth, silky sounds of a string orchestra. Reggae Symphony, will feature reggae pioneer John Holt, O.D. and Grammy nominated, reggae ambassador Freddie McGregor, O.D. on April 20, 2008, 7:00 pm at Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

Accompanied by Lloyd Parkes’ We the People Band and the New York Symphony Reggae Strings (comprised of some of the most notable musicians from Jamaica, New York and Florida that have performed with Mary J. Blige, Barry Manilow, Barbara Streisand and Ricky Martin), John Holt and Freddie McGregor will perform their numerous chart topping hits which have established them as solid icons of reggae.

The black-tie event is under the patronage of the Consul General of Jamaica for the Southeast United States, Mr. Ricardo Allicock and is presented by County Line Chiropractic Centers. “We are delighted to be the presenting sponsors of Reggae Symphony” commented Dr. Robert Hochstein, CEO and founder of County Line Chiropractic Centers, “Our strong support of this event is one way of giving back to the community and offers an opportunity to say thanks for their support over the years. We are thrilled to be associated with this South Florida debut and we anticipate an entertaining evening of the highest caliber which we all will enjoy.”

Produced by Riddims Marketing Inc. & Big Ship Music Inc., Reggae Symphony is based on a sold-out 2001 premiere at the London Apollo with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and combines two of Jamaica’s greatest voices with the sound of classical music to create the perfect fusion.

In October last year a remake of the London show traveled across the Atlantic and played to a sold-out crowd in New York. A recreated Reggae Symphony now makes it’s highly anticipated South Florida appearance at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on April 20.

Tickets begin at $45.00 and are available at all five County Line Chiropractic Centers, the Broward Center Box office, online at www.browardcenter.org and selected Caribbean outlets.

Support for this performance is provided by Jamaica National Money Transfer, Air Jamaica, HOT105 FM, Elegant Affairs, Whiz Communications, Infinite Markets and FUNSATION4.
