Race/Walk for Bone Marrow Awareness

MIAMI – The Barbara Gordon Leukemia Bone Marrow Awareness, Inc. (BGLBMA) in association with the Kiwanis Club of Pinecrest/Palmetto Bay (KPPB), today announced the 3rd Annual Race/Walk for Awareness. The event will be held at the Miami-Dade Community Kendall Campus on Saturday, November 6, 2010. Registration opens from 6:30am to 7:45am.

“This is an excellent opportunity for both serious runners and hobbyists to help the many persons in our South Florida community suffering from leukemia bone marrow disease, and also have loads of fun while doing so. So get a team together from your office, your church, your business and community groups, your family and friends and join us to support a truly worthy cause,” said Barbara Gordon, founder of BGLBMA and herself a 21-year leukemia survivor.
The Walk/Race includes a 5-kilometer race for runners and a 1-kilometer race for walkers with lots of prizes and surprises. For an entry fee of $20 per person ($25 per person on Event Day November 6th), participants will receive a registration kit including race t-shirt and race bib. Participants will also have an opportunity to learn about becoming a bone marrow or blood cell donor, to help those suffering from leukemia bone marrow disease. Fruits, water and other snacks will be available before and after the race.

BGLBMA’s 2010 Annual Race/Walk benefits from the assistance of corporate sponsors: Uniprint, Jamaica Tourist Board, The Barbados Tourist Authority and Caribbean Food Delights.
