Presidential Hopeful Mitt Romney wants to downplay Economic Growth in Florida

MIAMI – Statement by Florida State Senator Oscar Braynon on Mitt Romney’s ask of Gov. Rick Scott to downplay economic growth in Florida:

“Late last night we learned just how far Mitt Romney is willing to go to mislead Floridians and root for economic failure for his political gain. While President Obama is making the right decisions to reverse years of failed Republican economic policies, Mitt Romney is busy asking Governor Rick Scott to downplay good economic news in Florida, making it clear that Romney would rather see Florida’s economy fail than President Obama win re-election.

“As the new leader of the Republican Party, Mitt Romney is not only denying progress in Florida and across the country, but asking members of his own party to join him. Florida was among the hardest hit from the 2008 economic recession, yet Floridians know that thanks to President Obama’s swift action and strong leadership, our economy is now moving in the right direction.

“The American people deserve leaders who will root for progress and economic growth for all Americans, not cynical politicians like Mitt Romney who root for failure.”
