WASHINGTON, DC – The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, expressed to the President of the United States, Barack Obama; the Governor of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick; and the Mayor of Boston, Thomas Menino, his deep sorrow over the people killed and the more than one hundred people injured in the explosions in the city of Boston, in the midst of a sporting event taking place in the city.

The chief representative of the hemispheric organization expressed his sadness at an event of cruel and irrational violence, and his hope that those responsible will be found and punished to the full extent of the law.
