North Shore Medical Center Opens New Diabetes Center

MIAMI – North Shore Medical Center, a 357-bed acute care hospital in Miami, opened a new Diabetes Center on September 11th to help patients control diabetes and live longer and healthier lives. North Shore Medical Center CEO Manny Linares and Dr. Misha Denham, D.O., Endocrinologist and Medical Director of the newly opened Diabetes Center officially opened the doors with a ribbon cutting and tour for invited guests.

The new Diabetes Program will enable North Shore Medical Center’s team of doctors, nurses, dieticians and staff to take a multidisciplinary approach through treatment, education and lifestyle management. This will enable patients with Diabetes to keep their condition under control and lead a healthy, active lifestyle. Patients will be educated on wound care and prevention.

“At North Shore Medical Center, we pride ourselves on offering patients the best care possible,” said Manny Linares, CEO of North Shore Medical Center. “The addition of the new Diabetes Center allows us to better serve our patients and help to provide a better quality of life for those with diabetes and we are proud to be one of the only centers of this kind in Miami-Dade County.”

Diabetes is a chronic disease that has no cure. According to the American Diabetes Association there are 23.6 million in the US or 8 percent of the population with Diabetes – 24 percent of these are undiagnosed. Daily, over 4,384 people are diagnosed with diabetes and about one out of every five healthcare dollars is spent caring for a patient who has diabetes.
