New Passport Appointment Service announced in Trinidad

PORT OF SPAIN – Trinidad – Trinidad’s Immigration Division of the Ministry of National Security introduced a new Trinidad and Tobago Passport Appointment System. The new system makes it more convenient for citizens of Trinidad and Tobago to apply for and renew their passports. The system went into effect on Tuesday April 15, 2008.

To facilitate this service the Immigration Division is utilizing the TTPost Call Centre, which will receive calls from the public and schedule the appointments for the various immigration passport offices.

It is important for the public to note that while the Call Centre will began accepting calls from April 15, the first appointment will be scheduled from Monday April 28. Persons who already have passport appointments scheduled by the Immigration Division or who are seeking expedited passports will not be affected by these changes.

Under the new system, citizens of Trinidad and Tobago will be able to make appointments via telephone to visit any of the passport office locations in Port of Spain, San Fernando, Sangre Grande or Tobago.

All applicants will be required to provide a valid form of identification. Persons with confirmed appointments will get a reference number, which they must present when visiting the passport office.

The new passport appointment service is expected to improve the process of applying for and renewing a passport as well as address the concerns expressed by citizens about the long lines and processing times to conduct these transactions at passport offices.
