National Association of Barbados Organizations, Inc. (NABO) selects new board members

JACKSONVILLE – National Association of Barbados Organizations, Inc. (N.A.B.O) met last month in Jacksonville, Florida with over one hundred Barbadians and friends of Barbados to hold elections for new officers and board members. The Barbados Consul General, Mr. Ed Bushell, of the Miami Consulate Office, Mr. Ferdinand Gill the Minister/Counselor Embassy of Barbados and, Mr. David Bulbulia were present and officiated the election.

The results of the elections are as follows:

Chairman – Michael Cummins (Boston, MA)
Vice Chairman – Earl Ashby (Boston, MA)
Secretary – Jacqueline Jordan – (Orlando, FL)
Treasurer – John Ellis – (Hartford, CT)
Regional Director North – Sheena Petrolito – (Hartford, CT)
Regional Director South – Wesley Lynch – (Jacksonville, FL)
Regional Director East – Cora Rawlins – (Washington, DC)
Regional Director West – John Noel – (Jacksonville, FL)
Public Relations Officer – Janice Bispham – (Coral Springs, FL)

“This was the most stress-free election that N.A.B.O. has ever had” says Janice Bispham. The renewed confidence in the “new” N.A.B.O. was reconfirmed at this meeting. The election process followed to the letter the guidelines set down in the By-Laws.

Council General Ed Bushell imparted his knowledge of proper procedures and encouraged the newly elected Board to continue working hard to keep N.A.B.O. on the path that we are now traveling.

Jerry Blenmen from Calidad, a financial consulting firm in Barbados, gave an eye-opening presentation on investing in the Caribbean. This son of Barbados, encouraged a more global perspective in trying to help the Caribbean. He said, “we should not limit our investments to any one island, but should expand our focus and help the whole region”.

N.A.B.O.’s next general session will be the Summer Conference in St. Thomas, USVI. The Conference is scheduled for the week of June 27th to July 4th, 2006.
