Mother of Caribbean Connection Radio Show Personality Mike Andrews passes away
MIAMI – Elsie Biggart, the mother of South Florida Caribbean Radio Personality, Mike Andrews has passed away at the age of 74, after a brief illness, on Friday November 28th at Memorial Regional Hospital West, Pembroke Pines.
Elsie, ”Mudds” to most who knew her, was born on August 27th 1934 in Tobago, daughter of James Biggart and Janet Maharaj. She lived intermittently in Tobago and Trinidad until she migrated to the USA (New York City) in 1982. She then moved to Miami, Florida in 1988.
Elsie gave birth to 10 children ( 1 died at birth), with Norris Andrews. They are Janet, Michael (Mike), Susan, Gary, Brian, Angelo, Cheryl, Jillian and Kassian. She had 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Elsie fought a tough battle raising 9 children with very little financial resources and less than desirable living conditions. She prevailed! She instilled in us the meaning of sacrifice, dedication, perseverance and love. Through her ministering with various Jehovah’s Witness congregations she also passed on those qualities to the many folks she came in contact with. She brought joy and laughter to many lives.
Elsie’s life will be celebrated with a Memorial Service on Tuesday December 2nd 2008 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 13525 NE 2nd Court, North Miami. Service is at 2 pm.
Per her wishes, her ashes will be sprinkled at Belle Garden Bay, Tobago.
