South Florida Caribbean News partners with The 100 Black Men of Greater Fort Lauderdale, Inc. on their annual “100 Bike Drive”

FT. LAUDERDALE – South Florida Caribbean News is partnering with The 100 Black Men of Greater Fort Lauderdale, Inc. (100BMOGFL) and Wal-Mart in support of their annual “100 Bike Drive”. South Florida Caribbean News has set a goal to raise enough funds to purchase at least 20 bicycles.

In 2006, the 100BMOGFL implemented a program designed to award bicycles to students throughout Broward County for improvement in the areas of academia and/or behavior. Students from elementary to high school are selected by school administrators and recognized by the 100BMOGFL.

“As the holiday season symbolizes the mid-point of the scholastic year, we would like to utilize this opportunity to provide bicycles for students who instituted hard work and dedication during the beginning of the school year,” says Dennis Wright, president of The 100 Black Men of Greater Fort Lauderdale, Inc. “Further, the “100 Bike Drive” can serve as motivation to close the second half of the year on a strong note.” “We are seeking support and donations from the community that will allow us to achieve our goal of awarding 100 bicycles to students who are continuously making scholastic progress.”

The donation and awarding of 100 bicycles will demonstrate to our youth and educators (throughout Broward County) that scholastic improvement is not only recognized in the classroom, but also in the business community.

The 100 Black Men of Greater Fort Lauderdale, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) (EIN# 030504435) organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life and enhance educational opportunities for African-American and Caribbean-American youth in Broward County. This is achieved through various programs in the areas of Mentoring, Education, Economic Development, and Health & Wellness. For more information on the 100BMOGFL, visit www.100blackmengfl.org.
