Miss Jamaica 2007 to host

NEW YORK – The Caribbean International Network (CIN TV) is proud to announce the second airing of Rising Stars, on Ch. 73 starting Sunday, February 15th, at 7:00 p.m.

“Rising Stars” which is similar to “American Idol”, is the number one reality talent show on local television in Jamaica. It showcases untapped Jamaican talent and brings it to the forefront in fine style. The contestants each reflect a different part of Jamaican culture and music, showing the diversity of our nation.

“I’m thrilled about the tremendous response to our first season and eagerly, look forward to another winning series. As individuals, the contestants have developed a ton. They are extremely fun loving and enjoy each other’s company and that’s always good,” said Ms. Yendi Phillipps.

Along with becoming the host of Jamaica’s top show, Yendi has warmed her way into the hearts of Jamaicans, successfully staged a charity fashion show for the victims of Hurricane Dean and went on to make history at the Miss World pageant in Sanya, China where she was a finalist in all the fast track events becoming the first person ever in the history of the pageant to accomplish this feat. Yendi has since become the new host of the popular, reality show ” Rising Stars.”

CIN’s CEO Stephen Hill said “Rising Star is Jamaica’s number one program. Bringing this successful show to our New York area viewers is a real coup for our channel. With Yendie as our exciting host, we’ll continue to reach bigger audiences from all ages and backgrounds.

For the past 14 years the CIN has been the only regularly scheduled television service for the Caribbean community in the New York area. Over the years the network has provided a full menu of news, sports, drama and music programmes created exclusively for the rapidly growing and youthful Caribbean population. Each week CIN airs a wide and diverse range of information and entertainment programmes for the large Caribbean-American.
