Ministry of Tourism Strategic Review of Antigua & Barbuda

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – The World Travel and Tourism Council forecasts that the global travel and tourism economy will grow by 4.5 percent per year and will create an additional 66 million jobs by 2020, in spite of current economic conditions. Notwithstanding the many challenges confronting the industry, tourism remains Antigua and Barbuda’s main engine of economic growth. Therefore, it is important to seek new and dynamic ways of enhancing its further growth and develop-ment.

To meet the changing demands of the industry, the Ministry of Tourism is in the process of rebranding our tourism product. In this regard, the Ministry will be hosting two (2) days of consultation.

The first will be a strategic review of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism sector ‘interactive session’ with tourism partners held on Wednesday 23rd February, 2011 at the Ministry of Tourism’s conference room, Queen Elizabeth Highway, commencing at 9:00am.

The second will be a strategic review of the Antigua and Barbuda tourism sector – ‘stakeholder consultation interactive session’ which will be held on Thursday 24th February, 2011 at the Antigua and Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute, commencing at 9:00am.

Facilitators for both sessions will be Dr. Auliana Poon and Mr. Kevon Wilson of Tourism Intel-ligence International which is a highly respected travel and tourism consultancy, serving both government and private sector clients in both established and emerging tourism destinations around the world.
