Miami-Dade County Mayor to host small business expo
MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez is hosting a Small Business Development Expo in conjunction with the Dade County Federal Credit Union, Dade County Association of Firefighters and COSTCO on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm at the Fire Fighters Memorial Building 8000 NW 21 Street in Miami.
Representatives from several Miami-Dade County departments, as well as from Jackson Health System, the Small Business Administration (SBA), Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX), Accion USA, South Florida Workforce, the Beacon Council, SCORE, and others will be participating.
“Four out of every five businesses in Miami-Dade County are small businesses. Through this Expo, we want to help small businesses work with the County and grow business,” said Mayor Carlos Alvarez.
Small business owners can become certified and qualify to compete for Miami-Dade County contracts; receive information about community based programs and mentoring programs; and receive financial, business and technical assistance.
