Miami-Dade County Mayor hosts Haitian Independence Day Celebration

MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez hosts the Haitian Independence Day Celebration, on January 23, 2008, at the Stephen P. Clark Government Center. Miami-Dade County Commissioner Dorrin D. Rolle also participated in the event festivities.

As part of the festivities, members of the Alva Dance Company performed and musician Wyclef Jean’s mother, Yolanda Jean, was on hand to present Mayor Alvarez with a plaque for hosting the Haitian Independence Day Celebration.

An exhibit of Haitian history from the 1400’s to the present is also on display in the Stephen P. Clark Government Center lobby through January 31, 2008.
