Miami-Dade Commissioner Jean Monestime Hosts ‘Taste of Haiti’ on Saturday, May 11, 2013

MIAMI – Miami-Dade Commissioner Jean Monestime, District 2, invites the community to come out and enjoy the cuisine of Haiti at the inaugural “Taste of Haiti” event on Saturday, May 11, 2013, from 3 p.m. – 10 p.m. in the plaza of the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA), 770 NE 125th Street, North Miami. Admission is free.

At “Taste of Haiti,” Miami-Dade County’s finest restaurants and chefs who specialize in traditional Haitian cuisine will be on hand to prepare their most popular dish. “Taste of Haiti” will feature musical entertainment provided by DJ NICKYMIX and Haitian Twoubado group “Aroze.” The event is being held in collaboration with Commissioner Monestime, the City of North Miami, the Haitian Culinary Alliance, the Haitian Consulate General in Miami and the Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce of Florida.

“Taste of Haiti will have something to please every palate,” said Commissioner Monestime. “I hope everyone comes out to enjoy the culture and cuisine of Haiti. This promises to be a can’t-miss event.”

Haitian Heritage Cultural Month is celebrated in the month of May in Miami-Dade County and around the nation to honor the rich history, culture and legacy of Haitian-Americans.
