The Literati Society was created to connect young professionals at the center of Miami’s book culture.  Founding members include Michael Bolden, editorial director of the Knight Foundation, Rebekah Monson, co-founder of the New Tropic and Code for Miami, and Jackie Gutierrez-Jones, UrbanDaddy’s Miami editor.

“The Miami International Book Fair brings together authors and book lovers from all over the world to celebrate what is best and brightest in the human spirit,” said Adele Bagley, Literati Founder and Chief of Community Engagement for Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava.  “Creating a magical opportunity to meet neighbors and new friends in downtown Miami, fair goers can discover new books and ideas and hear from their literary heroes.

“I’ve joined the Literati Society as a founding member because I grew up going to the Book Fair,” Bagley added.  “I believe it is one of our community’s crowning and most inclusive cultural jewels and want to be sure that I can share the experience with my own children one day.”

A Literati Society membership, geared towards ages 25-45, includes: access to exclusive MBFI after parties, invitations to year-round socials, a 20 percent discount on creative writing workshops, free consultation with a literary agent and a 20 percent discount at the Café at Books & Books at the Adrienne Arsht Center.

Members can also enjoy receptions with some of their favorite authors including Salman Rushdie Sept. 18.  The Literati Society will also partner with other likeminded young professional organizations to present special events.

“There is no community more passionate or engaged than the fans of Miami Book Fair,” said Literati Society member Rebecca Lattanzio, director of marketing for social media consultancy Mochee.  “I’m so excited to help continue to grow this family and be an ambassador for young professionals who love book culture in Miami!”

Literati Society annual membership is $125.  It also includes one MBFI membership badge, one complimentary ticket to an Evenings With session, early ticket reservations for major venues during the Evenings With series and weekend author presentations, preferential seating in designated areas at major venues, free admission to the Weekend Street Fair, and one complimentary Book Fair accessory item.

Half of all membership fees are used to purchase books for under-resourced schoolchildren on field trips to Miami Book Fair.
