Miami – City of Miami Mayor Manny Diaz commends the House of Representative’s passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act this week and extends his appreciation the South Florida Members of Congress who voted for the bill.
“This bill contains funding for many important programs that will benefit the City of Miami, and will assist working families during this time of economic difficulty,” said Mayor Diaz. “This bill will create the much-needed jobs in our community and will revive our economy.”
Both the House and Senate bills contain funding for key priorities including creating jobs through road and street improvements, bridge repair and maintenance, transit projects, public safety and water and wastewater infrastructure. The bills also contain funding for much needed job training, expanded unemployment benefits, poverty reduction, increased tax benefits, affordable housing and education.
Mayor Diaz urges the Senate to pass a bill that supports cities, job creation and economic growth.
