MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez, in conjunction with South Florida Workforce, is hosting a Haitian Labor Day Job Fair, on Monday, May 1, 2006, at Norte Dame D’Haiti Catholic Church, located at 110 NE 62nd Street, in Little Haiti.

Members of the community are invited to meet prospective employers, learn about career opportunities, and network. The Home Depot, Ocean Bank, Velda Farms, Bryant Security, Miami-Dade County Transit, Murton Roofing, and Wendy’s Hamburgers are just some of the companies that have committed to this event. Many more will be in attendance. Career counselors and information on training programs will also be available.

“The job fair is a chance for members of our Haitian community who are out of work, seeking job advancement or new career opportunities to find, meet and match themselves up with employers who are seeking energetic, qualified professionals,” said Mayor Carlos Alvarez. “I want to thank South Florida Workforce for partnering in this effort that will give residents a sense of self-worth, and ultimately, foster regional economic growth.”
