Manley Memoirs, book reading and signing in South Florida for Caribbean American Heritage month

PEMBROKE PINES – Jamaican journalist and radio personality, Ms. Beverley Anderson Manley will be present for book reading and signing of the “Manley Memoirs” on Thursday, June 26 at 6 p.m., at the South Regional Broward County Library at 7200 Pines Boulevard in Pembroke Pines.

The book signing is the continuation of activities to observe June as Caribbean American Heritage month throughout the United States.

Ms. Anderson Manley will also make a similar appearance at the Books and Books store, Aragon Avenue in Coral Gables, on Sunday, June 29 at 6 p.m.

In her book of nearly 304 pages, published by Ian Randle Publishers, Ms. Manley, former wife of the late Prime Minister of Jamaica, Hon. Michael Manley, talks about details of her personal life, including being married to Jamaica’s most popular prime minister.

She also brought to life details as an accomplished woman, from humble beginnings to former first lady as her story illustrates her active political involvement and contribution to the social changes benefiting women and children, at the time, through the government of then Prime Minister Manley.

A gender specialist, Ms. Anderson Manley is also Jamaica’s former representative to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. She has visited several North American campuses lecturing students as well as doing extensive research on gender and policy issues in the Caribbean.

Using her political experience and knowledge of Jamaica, as well as years of experience in women’s and social issues, Ms. Manley was also co-host of the well-known Jamaican radio program, the Breakfast Club.

This location is celebrating Meet and Greet series of three Jamaican renowned authors including Ms. Margaret Orane, who will appear on Saturday (June 14) at 11 a.m., to do readings from her recent publication, “Free and Laughing” – spiritual insights in everyday moments.

Recently, Ms. Beverly East presented her latest book “Reaper of Souls” – a novel of the 1957 Kendal train crash in Jamaica.
