Lauderdale Lakes Mayor Barrington Russell Endorses Al C. Jones

Lauderdale Lakes – The Al C. Jones for County Commission Campaign today announced the endorsement of Lauderdale Lakes Mayor Barrington Russell.  
 
“I am pleased to support County Commissioner Jones in his bid to continue fighting for the people of district 9,” said Mayor Russell. “County Commissioner Jones has demonstrated strong leadership resulting in the opening of our library and cultural center. He has a strong understanding of the diversity of my city and I am happy to stand by him.”
 
Mayor Barrington Russell was elected Mayor of Lauderdale Lakes in 2008. He is one of the leading Jamaican-American leaders in south Florida.  His focus as Mayor includes affordable housing, economic development, and job creation.
 
This endorsement follows the recent endorsement of the Broward County Police Benevolent Association (PBA) and Collier City Homeowners Association President and Executive Board in Pompano Beach.


County Commissioner Jones

Al C. Jones represents district 9 on the county commission. County Commissioner Jones has a distinguished career in education, hospital governance, city government and now county government.  Previously, he served as a School Board Member, Mayor, Vice-Mayor and City Commissioner.  He currently serves on the South Broward Hospital District.  County Commissioner Jones graduated from Edward Waters College receiving a B.S. degree and the University of Northern Colorado with a Masters of Art Degree in curriculum/instruction.  He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and the Florida Hospital Association.  Commissioner Jones was born in Providence Hospital and currently resides in Oakland Park.
