Julian Marley Awarded ‘Best Album of the Year’ at the 2010 IRAWMA Ceremony

NEW YORK – On Sunday, May 2, 2010 Julian “Ju Ju” Marley picked up the award for ‘Best Album of the Year’ for his third studio album entitled Awake at the International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA) ceremony in New York City.

Marley’s IRAWMA Award comes on the heels of a Grammy Nomination for Awake in the category of ‘Best Reggae Album’. Co-produced with his brothers Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley and Stephen Marley, Awake was released on April 28, 2009 on Ghetto Youths / Universal Records.

“Ju Ju” Marley responds, “I give thanks for this Blessing to Jah the Almighty, all of the supporting fans and the IRAWMA staff.”

Since 2009, Julian Marley and his band The Uprising have spanned the globe in support of Awake. Having just finished a major North American, Caribbean and European leg, Julian has extended his Awake world tour with The Uprising to include performance dates in Brazil, the U.K. and Europe throughout the summer of 2010.
