“Judas Mentality”: Tales of Political Advertising in Jamaica

KINGSTONJUDAS MENTALITY, is a provocative tale of political deception in Jamaica, as told by Gerry Grindley, a 5-time Clio Award winning Jamaican Advertising Executive, who created political ad campaigns for both the People’s National Party (PNP) and Jamaica Labor Party (JLP).

Grindley has compiled a story that submits the reader to embrace the notion that abuse of power and position have lead to the demise of a nation and the unfortunate development of a mentality that continues to rape Jamaica of its’ true potential.

His anecdotal approach reads more like a conversation – a deliberate tactic on Grindley’s part.

A quick read in which Grindley does not embellish either history or quantitative analysis, it is his personal account and is therefore openly subjective.

His recounting is however based on actual incidents that he experienced, while developing political Advertising and Public relations campaigns for former Prime Ministers Michael Manley of the socialist People’s National Party and Edward Seaga of the democratic Jamaica Labor Party earning a Clio Award for his “Equal Rights & Justice” campaign in 1979.

Power, Politics, Deception, and Award-Wining ad campaigns- all the right ingredients for a great read.
