Jaya Devi Dancers to Perform at “Unity in the Community”

POMPANO – Unity in the Community of Pompano Beach is planning the second annual city-wide celebration titled “UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY.” The event will take place on Saturday February 2nd, 2013 at Pompano Community Park at 2001 NE 10 ST Pompano Beach FL next to the Amphitheater from 11 am to 3 pm.

“Unity in the Community” is a grass roots event organized by Pompano Beach citizens who understand the benefits of working together to improve the city start by getting to know your neighbors. Through the joint efforts shown by various multi-cultural, business and religious groups in organizing this day of Unity, “ the goal is to foster an understanding that while the close to 100,000 residents in Pompano Beach come from different backgrounds, that we are one city united, “ said event organizers.

This event is supported by The City of Pompano Beach and the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
The Organization is seeking sponsors to cover the costs of children’s entertainment, bounce houses, marketing materials, musical artistes…..etc………..AND to support their scholarship program.

Scholarships will be provided to deserving high school graduates for higher education.
Representing Trinidad & Tobago will be Jaya Devi Dancers.

JAI was founded 2008 is a non profit organization since 2010. JAI preserves, teaches, and presents the arts and culture of Indo- Caribbean communities from Guyana, Trinidad, Jamaica, Suriname, and other parts of the Caribbean living in the South Florida area. JAI works to rejuvenate Indo-Caribbean cultural and artistic life and to restore self-esteem to this new American community. JAI stimulates original and artistic creativity such as fusing traditional classical arts form with modern non traditional styles, especially among the younger generation of Indo-Caribbean youths born in the United States.

Other entertainers are: Ely Jazz band, Polynesian Cultural Association,
Crew Gospel Rap, Hopewell Baptist Mass Choir, Pan Man Steel Drummer, Expressions of Joy Dancers, Mr. Blue Puppet Show and much more.

The event will feature:
• Free food and drinks
• Free admission

Free exhibitor space for businesses, non-profit organizations and religious groups
Any donation would be greatly appreciated. In kind donations are also welcome.
