Jamaica’s Rousseau Sisters add Island Spice to New York Times Cafe

NEW YORK – Jamaican chefs Suzanne and Michelle Rousseau, better known as Two Sisters and a Meal, were the celebrity guest chefs at The New York Times café yesterday, March 26, courtesy of the marketing efforts of the Jamaica Tourist Board.

The experienced restaurateurs and caterers, who have done the catering for the Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Prince of Wales, and celebrities such as Ewan MacGregor, prepared a mouthwatering menu that added some island spice to the Times’ staffers lunch hour. One staff member told the cooking duo, “This is the best food I’ve ever eaten at this café.”

Hungry customers patiently waited in line and spoke with the charismatic duo about how they got their start and what’s on the horizon next for them. The midday fare included Creamy Roasted Tomato and Scotch Bonnet Soup, Smoked marlin and Cream Cheese Sandwich with Caper and Onion Pickle, Grilled Chicken with Spicy West Indian Salsa Verde, Sweet Potato Gratin with Parmesan Panko Crust, Creole Spiced Slaw with Sesame, Mango, Spiced Jerk Cashews, Plantain Tarts, and of course, 100 percent Blue Mountain Coffee.
