Jamaica’s National Hero life celebrated

FT. LAUDERDALE – The Rootz Foundation Incorporated will host the annual Marcus Garvey Rootz Extravaganza on Tuesday, August 17, in honor of the Jamaica’s National Hero, Hon. Marcus Mosiah Garvey.

The event will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Joseph C. Carter Park, 1450 W. Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale.

The guest speaker will be Dr. Willie Myles, founder of the Campaign to Save a Generation. The theme of this year’s event will be “Honoring Our Pan-African Ancestors and the Rastafari Elders.”

The annual event which is free to the public will also mark the 123rd birthday anniversary of Marcus Garvey and will include audio-visual presentations focusing of the life and works of Jamaica’s National Hero. A cultural presentation will also be part of the evening’s programme of entertainment.
