Jamaica’s Minister of State To Host teleconference meeting for plans for Diaspora Conference

MIAMI Jamaica’s Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Hon. Arnaldo Brown will host a special Diaspora Forum on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 11:30 a.m., to update the Jamaican community on plans for the Fifth Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference 2013 to be held June 16-18, at the Montego Bay Convention Center, Rose Hall, Jamaica.

The Minister will be available for dialogue with the Jamaican Diaspora Community via teleconference from the Offices of the Consulate General of Jamaica at Miami from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Discussions will highlight the agenda of the two-day Conference which will have an increased focus on the development of trade and investment, as well as an emphasis on topical issues germane to the interests of the Diaspora in their host countries such as immigration, the US Foreign Account tax Compliant Act (FATCA) and the Air Passenger Duty (APD), as well as education and health.

The Conference will provide a platform for the unveiling of a Diaspora and Development Policy framework and all are invited to join in the important consultations as the Consulate General in collaboration with the Diaspora Advisory Board Member, USA South, rally community interest and delegation support for participants from the Southern United States in this public forum.
