Jamaica’s Consul General Invites Diaspora Nominations For Honour Roll of Jamaicans
SOUTH FLORIDA – As part of the commemoration of Jamaica’s 53rd Anniversary of Independence, Consul General of Jamaica at Miami, Franz Hall, is inviting nominations for persons to be inscribed on the Honour Roll of Jamaicans in the Southern United States of America.
The Annual Community Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015, during the Independence Gala observing Jamaica’s 53rd Anniversary of Independence to be held at the Signature Grand in Davie, Florida. The Ball is a joint effort with the Jamaica United Relief Association (JURA).
“This is a wonderful opportunity to recognize and publicly acknowledge the positive contribution of Jamaican nationals to the development of their respective communities” said Consul General Hall. “Nominations are not limited to South Florida, and we look forward to receiving nominations of Jamaicans from all areas under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General”.
The call for nominations for the Honour Roll of Jamaicans continues the tradition of recognizing Jamaicans in the Diaspora who have positively impacted their community. Nominations are categorized in the following fields – Vanguard (landmark pioneers and icons) and Community Luminary (contemporary service) and two awards will be issued in each category. The areas for selection include education, religious leadership, community development, social services and philanthropy, business and entrepreneurship, healthcare, the arts, entertainment, media, sports, and law and justice.

Who is a Jamaica Diaspora Community Honoree?
An individual who has had a significant impact, historical or contemporary, on the Florida and South USA Jamaica Diaspora Community. They have contributed tangibly to community enrichment and positive national representation in society building. Their commitment to community service serves as inspiration and motivation to others.
