Jamaican software provider gets Caribbean distributorship from Canadian giant

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaican Software giant, Management Control Systems (MCS) has signed an agreement with ACL Services Ltd.(ACL), making it the Canadian firm’s software distributor for the English Speaking Caribbean, effective November 1.

“With this enhanced local presence, together, ACL and MCS will be better able to respond to customers’ needs and provide more effective sales and service,” Sabino Ramos, ACL Regional Director said. Based in Vancouver, Canada, ACL is the leading global provider of audit analytics and continuous monitoring software to the audit and controls professions.

“Management Control Systems Limited has been named an authorized channel distribution partner,” Mr. Ramos said. This, he added, was part of an ACL thrust to offer continued localized and tailored service and to better serve its clients’ business needs.

“This is a major regional opportunity for us,” said Diane Smith-Sears, MCS General Manager. “It will expand our customer base across the Caribbean.”

The distribution agreement covers most of the Windward and Leeward islands, including Martinique, Guadelupe, Trinidad and Tobago, as well as the Bahamas. This will integrate MCS into an ACL network which delivers software solutions to 14,000 organizations in more than 150 countries.

“MCS already does business around the Caribbean through partnership arrangements in Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago”, she said. “The significance of the new agreement is that it offers MCS an opportunity to play a larger role both locally and in the region.”

“Jamaica’s oldest and largest information technology solutions provider, MCS has more than 30 years of experience in software development and a staff of 85”, said MCS’ Deputy General Manager Dwayne Russell. “The link with ACL will further diversify our product offering, and give us access to a wider client base.”

Over the last three years, MCS has been expanding its consultancy services to its customers, Mr. Russell said. The new partnership agreement gives it access to new clients and new services it can offer to its established clients.

Since 1987, ACL has enabled auditors to assure sustainable compliance, reduce risk, detect fraud, enhance profitability, and improve business performance. Combining market-leading audit analytics software and professional services expertise, ACL solutions give auditors confidence in the effectiveness of internal controls and the integrity of the transactions underlying business operations.

“It is a standard technology platform for most internal auditors,” Mr. Russell stated. This gives MCS an established customer base in auditing firms and internal audit departments within companies and government.

MCS has been the pioneer in Jamaica with POS system hardware and software, as well as other value added software applications at the point of sale such as electronic phone top-up and parking tickets, among others. Additionally, MCS has had a strategic focus on the development of a number of other customized applications for its major customers.

This Jamaican technology company already has strategic partnerships with Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Verifone, and Diebold, among others.
