Jamaican Diaspora Hosts Public Farewell Reception for Consul General Ricardo Allicock

DAVIE – The Jamaican Diaspora in collaboration with HiClass Promotions will host a public farewell reception for Jamaica’s Consul General to the Southern United States, C.P. Ricardo Allicock, on Tuesday, August 12, 6:30pm at Signature Grand, 6900 State Road 84 in Davie, Florida.

Mr. Allicock will complete his tour of duty on August 31 after serving as head of Mission since September 2002. He returns to Jamaica to begin his new role as Director of Protocol in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT) as of September 1.

The public is invited to share well wishes and to bid farwell in honor of his distinguished tenure.

During his tenure, the Consul General has held responsibility for the thirteen (13) southern States including the second largest Jamaican populated US region, South Florida with a population of nearly 400,000. Under his directorship, two honorary consuls are assigned in Houston, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia.

Among his achievements, Mr. Allicock hosted an annual Community Service Awards ceremony recognizing community pioneers, led the formation of the Jamaica USA Chamber of Commerce (JAUSAC), provided synergy under the CARICOM Consul Corps, and inspired collective energy within the Jamaican Diaspora Southern United States.

“Our community has taken a quantum leap forward during his tenure. He has set an extraordinary example for us to follow. He truly inspired and challenged our potential. We will miss his diplomatic acumen and graceful leadership,” stated Marlon Hill, Jamaican Diaspora Advisory Board Member to the Southern United States.
