KINGSTON, Jamaica – The GraceKennedy Jamaica Birthright Programme, which gives college level Jamaican students living overseas a chance to revisit their cultural roots during the summer recess, is being renewed by the company for 2009.
This programme, which was established five years ago, provides a unique opportunity for the students to participate in an all expense paid internship programme in Jamaica, while connecting with their ancestral roots.
“The programme was started, in part, to reconnect second and third generation Jamaicans to their proud Jamaican heritage, and has scored very well,” according to the GraceKennedy/Western Union representative for the Northeast United States, Garfield Comrie.
Interested students must complete entry requirements on line at: www.gracekennedy.com, on or before December 31, 2008. Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years of age, with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.

Selected candidates will work, on rotation, within the GraceKennedy Group, offering them mentorship, hands on and practical experience in a wide variety of industries. They will be further exposed to the Jamaican heritage, through visits and field trips to historic sites, and cultural packages.
“As always, the GraceKennedy Jamaica Birthright Programme will give successful candidates a well-rounded Jamaican experience,” noted Mr. Comrie, adding that the programme is an excellent way to learn and enjoy, while earning.
