Jamaican among Newest Members selected for Orange Bowl Committee

Miami Lakes – The Orange Bowl Committee (OBC) announced the election of 11 new active members for the 2009-2010 year. The OBC will host the 76th FedEx Orange Bowl on January 5, 2010 featuring the champion of the ACC against the first pick among at-large teams eligible for the BCS.

In addition to its role as a BCS host committee, the OBC supports the community through funding and overseeing a variety of programs, including youth football and cheerleading and college scholarships.

New Active Members:

¨ Thad W. Adams, Senior Advisor, The Allen Morris Company. Civic involvement includes Coral Gables and Greater Miami Chambers of Commerce, the Beacon Council, Miami VA Medical Center, Sports Ability Games and Junior Orange Bowl.

¨ A. Paul Anderson, President, International Oil Shipping Co. Former Commissioner and Chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission. Co-founded Broward Navy Days and currently on the Board of Directors. Also involved with Leukemia Lymphoma Society of South Florida.

¨ Raoul G. Cantero III, Partner, White & Case LLP. Former justice on the Florida Supreme Court and chair of the Supreme Court’s Commission on Professionalism. While serving as a justice also coached junior varsity and assisted the varsity high school basketball team.

¨ Sergio M. Gonzalez, Senior Vice President for University Advancement and External Affairs, University of Miami. Oversaw UM’s $1.4 billion fundraising campaign. Serves on several civic boards of directors in the Greater Miami area.

¨ Donald L. Graham, United States District Judge, Southern District of Florida. Involved in 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project and on the Board of the Performing Arts Center for Greater Miami Trust.

¨ Luis (Wicho) Hernandez, Founder & Managing Partner, LINQ Financial Group. Four-year letterman as a baseball player at University of Miami. Fundraiser for Miami Society of Autism and Carpe Diem, a special needs school.

¨ Marlon A. Hill, Partner, delancyhill, P.A. Civic involvement includes Caribbean Bar Association, Miami Parking Authority, Florida Association of Voluntary Action for the Caribbean & the Americas and Miami Light Project.

¨ Bradley D. Houser, Shareholder, Akerman Senterfitt. Civic involvement includes co-chair of $10 million capital campaign at St. Stephens Episcopal Day School and member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Public Corporations.

¨ Morgan D. King Jr., Sr. Vice President Balfour Beatty Construction, LLC. Served as one of the inaugural mentors in the Mentor-Protégé program for the Miami-Dade Business Development Department’s Community Small Business Enterprise program.

¨ Ramon A. Rasco, Attorney, Podhurst Orseck, P.A. Board Member for the Community Partnership for Homeless and board member and chair of the fundraising committee for Drug Free Youth in Town.
