Jamaican Ambassador to the U.S. to Speak at “Movers & Shakers Breakfast”

SOUTH FLORIDA – The Jamaica USA Chamber of Commerce (JAUSACC) will launch its quarterly networking “Movers & Shakers Breakfast” on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Sheraton Airport Hotel in Dania, Florida, from 7:00-9:00 a.m. The guest speaker will be Jamaica’s Ambassador to the United States, Her Excellency Audrey P. Marks. The breakfast is being held in conjunction with the Consulate General of Jamaica for the Southeastern U.S.

JAUSACC is bringing this business opportunity to the South Florida community in an effort to link local Jamaican and non-Jamaican businesses, and to give everyone who attends the opportunity to meet influential leaders and new contacts who could have an impact on the growth of their businesses.

“It is widely understood that people are more comfortable doing business with persons they know or whom they have met,” said chamber president, Marie Gill. “These quarterly networking events will provide the opportunity for business persons to meet and develop those relationships, obtain sales leads, and learn new success strategies from experts in various industries.”

Ambassador Marks has a wealth of knowledge to share, having successfully achieved many “firsts” in business and in public office. She founded Paymaster (Jamaica), Ltd., a multi-transaction company that was the first of its kind in the Caribbean when it began in 1997. Ms. Marks was also the first female president of the American Chamber of Commerce of Jamaica (AMCHAM) and a member of several public and private sector boards in Jamaica before assuming her post as Jamaica’s first female Ambassador to the United States in May, 2010.

“It is fitting that an accomplished entrepreneur and thought leader such as Ambassador Marks would headline our inaugural networking breakfast. This sets the tone for the quality of events and services that our members and the community can continue to expect and receive from the Jamaica USA Chamber of Commerce,” Gill said.

The Quarterly “Movers & Shakers Breakfast” will feature topics designed to assist local businesses in today’s changing economy and will rotate among Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.
