KINGSTON, Jamaica – Capt. Russell Anthony Capleton, Jamaican Airline Pilots’ Association (JALPA)Immediate Past President passed away on Wednesday, May 5 of a heart attack at the age of 56.
Russell Capleton joined Air Jamaica Limited on January 28, 1980 as a Trainee Second Officer on the B727 fleet, and until his redundancy on April 30, 2010, held the position of Captain A320.

Most recently, Capelton was the leader of the Air Jamaica Staff Acquisition Group which was trying to purchase Air Jamaica from the Jamaican government.
Captain Capelton’s Air Jamaica family were truly saddened by his death and the timing couldn’t be worse as earlier this week Air Jamaica was taken over by Caribbean Airlines.
In addition to flying, Russell enjoyed motor rallying and was a Executive member of the Jamaica Motoring Club.
