Jamaica Stock Exchange Tours New York

Jamaica stock exchangeNEW YORK – The Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) will be touring New York from November 19-25, 2015, for a series of events aimed at inspiring Jamaicans to look to Jamaica for Investments opportunities.

“JSE recognizes the symbiotic relationship between members of the Diaspora and Jamaica. We understand and appreciate the need to ensure that both benefit from the growth of the Jamaican economy based on a collaborative process,” say JSE’s General Manager, Mrs. Marlene Street Forrest, who will head the tour.

The tour will take the form of Town Hall meetings and privately held meetings with brokerage houses and business leaders to present opportunities that exist and explore new ideas through collaborations.

The Town Hall meetings will be held at St. Johns UMC, Queens/Valley Stream New York; Lennox Rd Baptist, Brooklyn and St. Lukes Episcopal in the Bronx.  Among topics to be discussed are:  The Jamaica Stock Exchange and its functions, investments and investments opportunities.

The Diaspora-push comes within the context of demonstrated commitment to Jamaica in many tangible ways; remittances, medical missions, education initiatives, socio-economic interventions, business initiatives or sports philanthropy.

The biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference is another example of a unified Diaspora platform that harnesses global interests in one place for the exchange of ideas.  It serves as a repository of that interest designed to forge stronger ties with the homeland.  There is no doubt that passion is there and that passion has been concretized by strong, decisive and irrefutable action.

Of note are the commendations directed at Jamaica in recent times by the World Bank, Forbes Magazine, among others, heralding Jamaica as a good place to do business and citing improvements in key benchmarks such as: business friendliness, procedures to start a business and legal rights.

“If private entities and corporations can find favorable opportunities in Jamaica so can Diaspora businesses and individuals overseas through entities like the Jamaica Stock Exchange,” remarked Mrs. Street Forrest, a strong supporter and main speaker at Diaspora Conference events.
