Jamaica National Real Estate Fair set for South Florida

LAUDERHILL – Jamaicans residing in Florida will be able to find out more about real estate investment opportunities in the island, at a JN Real Estate Fair, to be staged at Inverrary Country Club in Lauderhill, Florida, on Sunday, April 22, 2012.

The fair is being organised by the Florida Representative Office of Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS), under the theme “Paradise is Calling,” to provide direct access to real estate developers and agents from Jamaica who are participants in the JNBS Preferred Lender Programme.

In addition, Jamaica National will highlight its special 9.4% rate on residential mortgages, which is currently among the lowest now on offer in Jamaica.

Mrs. Janice McIntosh, Chief Representative Officer for Jamaica National in Florida, said that the fair will give Jamaicans living in Florida, “the opportunity to learn more about home and property developments in the island; and explore opportunities for ownership.”

Developers in the Preferred Lender Programme will mount displays and provide print collateral material for prospective home owners to explore and commit to a purchase. Under the Preferred Lender Programme, Jamaica National collaborates with real estate developers in Jamaica that satisfy strict criteria, and offers promotional support for their housing solutions.

“They are Jamaican based real estate agents, who have formed an alliance with the JNBS Mortgage Unit,” Mrs. McIntosh pointed out. “And, through this partnership, we are educating Jamaicans residing overseas about housing options in Jamaica.”

She pointed out, that last year a series of real estate workshops were hosted by the JN Representative Office in cities across Florida, which resulted in a significant increase in interest from Jamaicans, “seeking to learn more about real estate investment opportunities, as well as to clarify land and other estate related issues.”

“We plan to use this Real Estate Fair to give prospective patrons much more information; therefore, we have also invited quantity surveyors and lawyers to attend the event,” Mrs. McIntosh stated, “because these representatives will be able to provide meaningful information to guide the decision making of participants.”

For persons who may have property in Jamaica, or who are currently pursuing legal and estate matters, Mrs. McIntosh said that the National Housing Trust (NHT) and the National Land Agency (NLA), will also have representatives on hand “who will be able to provide up-to-date information for persons who need to establish their status with the NHT, or get detailed information about land they own in Jamaica.”

“We anticipate that some persons will be actively seeking to acquire homes or land,” she stated. “With our experience in providing mortgages and this attractive lending rate, it will be the perfect opportunity to serve potential purchasers.”

Patrons can attend the JN Real Estate Fair at no cost. Interested persons are invited to contact the JNBS Florida Representative Office at 1-800-390-7850, or by sending an email to [email protected] for additional information.
